, which means some of you may decide to grill outside in addition to cook up the holiday meal in your kitchen.Captain Thomas Waters says, as a rule of thumb, it’s a good idea to keep a distance of about three to five feet between your grill and any structure.
Something else to keep in mind in the kitchen, Thomas says, is that if you’re cooking a turkey, make sure you are doing it correctly. “Again, you want to make sure if we’re gonna be frying a turkey that it is completely thawed. We want to set it down in the grease slowly and also make sure you haven’t overfilled the grease in the container,” said Captain Waters. Captain Waters says about 30% of all their yearly calls are fire related.
