Ten fire engines are currently at the scene working to contain the flames as members of the public have been urged to avoid the area.
Crews were scrambled to the blaze at Carnbooth House Hotel on Bubsy Road in Glasgow after receiving the alarm at 8.03pm. Shocking images from the scene show an aggressive fire ripping through the roof of the vacant building.
Ten fire engines are currently at the scene working to tackle the inferno. There are no reported casualties at this time. The Record understands that the hotel, which was once a popular wedding venue, closed in 2019 to undergo a refurbishment. Plans had been in place to transform the venue into a "brand new state of the art ballroom and spa facility".
The cause of fire is currently unknown. Officers from Police Scotland confirmed they are currently assisting fire crews with the ongoing incident, with nearby Carmmunock Bypass currently closed off.A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "Operations control were alerted to reports of a fire at a derelict building on Bubsy Road in Glasgow at 8.03pm on Thursday, August 17. Ten appliances were mobilised to the scene at the height of the fire.
"The public is asked to avoid the area to allow emergency services access to deal with the incident."
