Fire causes $300K in damages at northeast side strip center

The commerical strip center is home to a tire shop, auto shop, printing company and granite shop inside the structure.

Firefighters responded to the 4700 block of Rittiman Road near Loop 410 around 8:30 p.m. for reports of a large fire. Officials with SAFD say more than 30 units responded to fight the stubborn blaze, which took several hours to extinguish.

The commerical strip center has a tire shop, auto shop, printing company and granite shop inside the structure. Officials estimate the damages to be around $300,000. One of the businesses had damages caused by the fire and smoke from the flames, as well as the water used to extinguish the fire. Two other businesses had both smoke and water damage.
