A fire has broken out at a 10-storey construction site in Canning Town this morning, sending huge plumes of black smoke into the sky in east London.London Fire BrigadeIt has deployed 10 fire engines and around 70 firefighters to respond to the fire near Silvertown Way in Canning Town.“The fire was located in a construction site consisting of 10 floors, where a ground floor commercial unit was alight.
It added: “The fire has been producing significant amounts of smoke. People in the area are advised to keep windows and doors closed and avoid the area where possible.” The brigade confirmed it has received over 25 calls reporting the fire, with the first call taken at 8.23am.An investigation into the cause of the fire, which is not yet known, is underway. There are currently no reports of any injuries, the LFB said.
