BREAKING: A fire has started in Boulder just south of last month’s NCAR fire burn area.
Wednesdays’ fire is burning near the north fork of the Shanahan Ridge Trailhead, according to Boulder Fire Rescue. The trailhead is off Lehigh Street and Lafayette Drive.in open space area on the southwest side of Boulder. At one point the NCAR fire forced the evacuation of about 8,000 residences and about 19,400 people. The wind-whipped fire burned about 190 acres. No one was injured and residences were destroyed.
Trails in the area of the new fire being closed and authorities as any hiking or using the area to leave immediately. It’s burning southwest of the Table Mesa neighborhood. Eastern Boulder County on Wednesday is under a Red Flag Warning because of fire concerns raised by strong winds and dry weather. No open burning is allowed.
We are again under a RED FLAG WARNING for eastern Boulder County today, Wednesday, due to high winds and low relative humidity. NO OPEN BURNING is allowed in anywhere in Boulder County today.
