A Ford spokesman says the Dark Horse can do four 20-minute sessions on the track on the Pirellis compared with only three sessions with Michelins. And the lap times are quicker.
Both the E and Trofeo RS are part of the next-generation P Zero series designed for premium and high-end models that will start to roll out on vehicles from such automakers as Aston Martin, Pagani, Lotus, and Polestar. The P Zero debuted on the Ferrari F70 in 1987; a 17-inch tire on a road-going hypercar. In 2010 Pirelli introduced the P Zero Corsa for F1 and two years later added the P Zero Trofeo R for track use and street legal cars.
