Community holiday events are largely returning to pre-pandemic form this year after two seasons of disruption. Here is an array of festivities announced for Southern California cities. Events are free except where noted.First Avenue will be closed between Huntington Drive and Diamond Street for the city’s Holiday Fair & Day of Giving. There will be activities for kids, live music, an appearance by Santa and booths selling merchandise and beer and wine.

The city’s annual holiday fireworks show will kick off at 7 p.m. Dec. 11. Fireworks will be set off from the Manhattan Beach Pier. Blanket seating will be permitted in the parking lot, upper north, in front of Shellback as well as up Manhattan Beach Boulevard to Highland Avenue. Before the fireworks show, residents can visit a snow park and bounce park at Live Oak Park, 1901 N Valley Drive.The city’s annual Holiday Parade will start at 7 p.m. Dec.

Members of the Southern California Woodie Club drive down Main Street during the the parade at the annual Light a Light of Love holiday celebration and fundraiser in Huntington Beach. The Light a Light of Love Pier Lighting Ceremony features a short parade and an appearance by St. Nick, ferried with Mrs. Claus in a vintage woody, culminating in the lighting of snowflake lights along the city’s pier.

Santa Claus lights the Christmas Tree at the City of La Palma’s annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony. Children from local schools will perform and families will be able to visit with Santa and his elves at the 35th annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony. Santa’s Village will be open 3:30-5:30 p.m. Dec. 7, followed by the tree lighting. Central Park, 7821 Walker St. In the event of rain, the celebration will be rescheduled to Dec. 14.
