Mattel's latest scale model includes interchangeable wheels and is priced at $53.99
Mattel’s GT3 Vantage kit features 793 pieces and detailed design. A 1:64 die-cast Vantage GT3 model is included in each box. Model offers working steering, open doors, and engine detail. While Lego may still dominate the conversation when it comes to miniature building bricks, Mattel has built a contender of its own.
The Mattel Brick Shop offers a broad range of kits, and its latest release expands the Hot Wheels line with something rather special. This is a 1:16 scale replica of the Aston Martin Vantage GT3, aimed at both younger builders and adults who still appreciate the focus of snapping pieces into place. It comes painted in a standard green with lime-green accents on the front grille and wing mirrors. Also included in the box are interchangeable wheel faces and aerodynamic add-ons for the front splitter. Each kit also includes a small 1:64 metal model of the Vantage, which could be a useful source of inspiration as you meticulously fret about finding the right piece for the right spot. There are also decals and racing numbers included, adding to the authentic motorsport vibes. Oftentimes, build-it-yourself scale models of cars can look a little odd, as you can only do so well at replicating a real car’s curves with square blocks. However, as Mattel’s creation includes several curved parts, the finished creation looks great. Not only that, but it also includes intricate detailing throughout the engine bay, doors that can open, and even functional steering. “For racing and car fans, the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 is pure bucket list material,” Mattel’s Ted Wu described. “With the Mattel Brick Shop Hot Wheels line, we are giving enthusiasts a new way to connect with the icon that is this Aston Martin model and bring it home as a highly detailed, customizable build that is made to be built, shown off, and admired.” The Vantage GT3 kit will be available at select retailers worldwide, including Amazon, Target, and Mattel Creations, from this summer, priced at $53.99.
