Filipino-Canadian Kenneth Ramos can now afford to buy a home in Surrey, Canada, as well as an apartment in the Philippines after winning the $500,000 lotto cash prize. According to the British Columbia Lottery Corporation , Ramos bought the winning lotto ticket at the Esso gas station on 96 Avenue and 168 Street in Surrey on Aug. 8. Ramos said he and his wife were “speechless” but elated, saying he even had to double-check his ticket.

The cash prize will be used for his children’s education, Ramos added, saying his kids and their future are his top priorities. He noted that he also plans to buy a home in British Columbia and build an apartment in the Philippines.
