Fr. Primitivo Viray Sr. will take over as president of the Jesuit Conference of Asia Pacific . He will be replacing another Filipino Jesuit, Fr. Antonio Moreno, who has held this position since 2017.

He has a master's degree in Rural Development Studies from the University of East Anglia in Norwich, England as well as a doctorate in Development Studies, JCAP said in a statement. "Viray has a wealth of apostolic experience in education, advocacy for the poor, and formation work, which he brings with him in his new role as JCAP President," the congregation added.
