Figure AI announces plans for a Center for Humanoid Safety, focusing on transparency, rigorous testing, and third-party certification for safer robots.
Robotics player Figure AI has detailed its plan to create an in-house Center for Humanoid Safety. The firm aims to lead in safe AI-controlled humanoid robots by enhancing transparency and communication. The company will share product safety updates, testing plans, and results. Figure will test stability, human and pet detection, and AI behavior while inviting public scrutiny.
Trust in the safety of robots placed in the office, factory, grocery store, and home needs to be earned through testing, compliance with relevant standards, and third-party evaluation ,” said Rob Gruendel, the lead at robot safety and compliance at Figure AI, in a LinkedIn post. The company urges all humanoid developers to be transparent, ensuring robots deployed in workplaces and homes meet strict safety criteria.
