“We’re here to raise money for the causes Cooper believed in, to help others do the good work that Cooper isn’t here to do anymore,” she said. Shakur recalled Andrews helping teach self-defense classes to women, fixing kitchen appliances to feed neighborhood kids and collecting feminine hygiene products to donate – just some of the ways the former Marine spent his time.

“He was fighting for a better world. This just wasn’t some adventure. This is a hell of a loss,” he said. Andrews was expected to return home in March but decided to stay in Ukraine and continue to help, his mother said.
