The Immigration Minister Robert Jenrick has confirmed plans to cut the number of hotels used to accommodate asylum seekers. Jenrick describes using hotels to house these refugees as 'one of the most damaging manifestations' within the migrant crisis.

He said that officials had already cut the number of hotels required by 72, thanks to making arrivals share rooms. During a parliamentary debate Sir Edward Leigh, a Conservative MP in the county, said the hotel normally charged £400 a night, and described its use by the Home Office as a 'farce'.
