In a surprise announcement, Crunchyroll revealed that 15 of Dragon Ball's movies are coming to the streaming service. Even the most diehard Dragon Ball fan will have their work cut out for them with this impressive collection of classic movies.
Anime streaming service, Crunchyroll, has revealed that almost every Dragon Ball film ever made will now be available to stream. A press release from the company states that fifteen films from the hit franchise are going to be added to Crunchyroll's already impressive catalog. There are already seven available with the remaining eight coming soon in a total of three release waves.
The Dragon Ball franchise began with the manga's serialization in 1984. The anime adaptation came shortly after, beginning in 1986. It has since become one of the most popular manga and anime franchises in the world. There have been six animated series and twenty-one animated feature-length films following its debut. At present, Crunchyroll's streaming options will include films centered in the Dragon Ball Z franchise, with one Dragon Ball Super film also coming soon.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Crunchyroll Adds Dragon Ball Z Films to its Streaming Library As of now, the following films are available: Dragon Ball Z: Dead Zone, Dragon Ball Z: World's Finest, Dragon Ball Z: Tree of Might, Dragon Ball Z: Lord Slug, Dragon Ball Z: Cooler's Revenge, Dragon Ball Z: Return of Cooler, and Dragon Ball Z: Super Android 13. This is Crunchyroll's first wave of releases for the franchise.
On June 29, Crunchyroll will add: Dragonball Z: Broly - The Legendary Super Saiyan, Dragon Ball Z: Bojack Unbound, Dragon Ball Z: Broly - Second Coming, Dragon Ball Z: Bio-Broly, Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn, and Dragon Ball Z: Wrath of the Dragon. On July 9, Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F and Dragon Ball Super: Broly will round out this massive release of films. Spanning 1989 to 2018, this is an incredible selection of films, though a few are missing.
Also missing from this slew of streaming options is the first three films in the Dragon Ball franchise. The left-out earlier films are Dragon Ball: Curse of the Blood Rubies, Dragon Ball: Sleeping Princess in Devil's Castle, and Dragon Ball: Mystical Adventure. While the first and third films are rehashes of the Dragon Ball story with new adjustments, the other is an original story. Each has had an English release from Funimation.
