More than 1,200 flights scheduled to depart from major airports in New Jersey, New York City and Philadelphia have already been canceled as of Saturday morning.

Trenton-Mercer Airport offers service on Frontier Airlines and Spirit Airlines flies out of Atlantic City International Airport. Information on cancellations at those airports wasn’t immediately available from those airlines, though both offer a small fraction of the flights of the other area airports.Heavy snow is expected to continue falling through the morning as winds gust to more than 40 mph.
More than a foot of snow has already fallen along parts of the Jersey Shore, with lesser but still substantial amounts elsewhere. Snow is expected to taper off during the afternoon before ending from south to north, forecasters say.
