Fields primed and ducks primped for legendary Great Harwood Agricultural Show
Without hesitation, chairman Steve Horrocks is under no illusion why Great Harwood Agricultural Show is so popular - and carries a certain east Lancs je ne sais quoi not found elsewhere.He says it is part of the "magic" of the famous event which allows families to get up close to pygmy goats, Highland cows, multiple breeds of sheep and cattle in all shapes and sizes. on Bank Holiday Monday .
Visitors can revel in Lamb National races, birds of prey, sheepdog and duck herding, hedge laying, sheep shearing, bonsai, dog agility, willow weaving, 100 vintage and classic vehicles, featuring 40 Morris Minors. "It is fantastic to see the excitement when people can get up close to a cow as they usually see it out of the car window from afar. That's the best bit for me - people love hearing about how much grass they eat and water they drink.
In fact, young visitors are well set too with games, craft workshops, welly throwing, and races , donkey rides, fairground rides and inflatables to get stuck into. A charity dog show will also take place once again while a dog agility course will be set up all day, with visitors welcome to bring their pooch and give it a try.
