Yes, there was some backup after the eclipse, but TxDOT posted the worst problem they saw in the state was the 60 mile drive from Kerrville to San Antonio on I-10 after the eclipse took 2-1/2 hours. One festivalgoer who traveled all the way from Brazil said the fest was just part of his plans for a big weekend in Central Texas for his party of explorers. Pedro Andrade told us, “Nobody knew Texas or Austin or San Antonio. We went to the San Antonio spurs game last night. We really like the NBA. We tried some food, some barbeque.” The music festival was supposed to run through Tuesday but organizers spread the word before the eclipse that everyone would have to leave. Festivalgoers were allowed to stick around for the eclipse as long as they were already packed up to leave. Emergency planners like to do an after-event analysis of what went right and what went wrong so they can do better next time. But there's no rush in preparing for the next eclipse. The next eclipse to come to Central Texas will be February 25, 2343.
