An off-duty police officer was involved in a shooting near Walnut Avenue and National Street in Elgin, authorities said.
Elgin police blocked off the intersection of National Street and Walnut Avenue following the shooting involving an off-duty police officer Monday afternoon.

The Kane County Major Crimes Task Force is handling the investigation. The Walnut/National intersection has been closed to traffic.Lakshay Chauhay, manager of the Mobil gas station across from the scene of the shooting, said he was in the office when he heard a loud noise.
