Texas lawmakers have just a few days to decide how much Texans will pay for plan to fix electric grid

While it’s still unknown which side, or combination of sides, will prevail, one thing is clear: Texas residents and businesses will pay for the fix, whether through taxes, on utility bills or both. It's not clear how much it will cost, and University of Houston Energy Fellow Ed Hirs said it’s also unknown how most of the proposed programs would increase reliability.“Not only are we going to pay for the plan that works – we're going to pay for the ones that don't work,” Hirs said.
Major trade and lobbying groups for the state’s manufacturers and industrial plants are in favor of the bill.
