The president and the Florida senator have been blasting each other politically, and this week the spat turned ugly as Scott said Biden is “incapacitated” and the president said Scott “has a problem.”
— responded to Scott’s insults by saying, “I think the man has a problem.”
“Senator Rick Scott of Wisconsin, a member of the Senate Republican leadership, laid it all out in a plan. It’s the ultra-MAGA agenda,” Biden said in a speech Tuesday, incorrectly identifying Scott’s home state. “Their plan is to raise taxes on 75 million American families, over 95 percent of whom make less than $100,000 a year, total income. The average tax increase would be about $1,500 per family.
In the interview, Scott added, “He’s confused. He doesn’t understand; he just wants to blame everybody. Here’s a guy that we all know can’t do this. He can’t do anything about inflation. You know, he ought to do what a businessperson does — quit.” But it wasn’t until the release of Scott’s “11 point plan to rescue America” in late February that the White House began to seriously engage with Scott, who as chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee is charged with regaining the Senate majority for the GOP. The “skin in the game” item about taxes has been a favorite target for Biden.

House approves $40B in Ukraine aid, beefing up Biden requestThe House emphatically approved a fresh $40 billion Ukraine aid package Tuesday as lawmakers beefed up President Joe Biden's initial request, signaling a magnified, bipartisan commitment to thwart Russian President Vladimir Putin's bloody three-month-old invasion. The bill would give Ukraine military and economic assistance, help regional allies, replenish weapons the Pentagon has shipped overseas and provide $5 billion to address global food shortages caused by the war's crippling of Ukraine's normally robust production of many crops. House debate reflected a perspective, shared broadly by both parties, that the U.S. has even more at stake than standing by Ukraine.
