Democratic U.S. Senate candidate John Fetterman answered questions from PennLive's editorial board on Wednesday in an endorsement meeting live-streamed on Facebook.

Wasting no time, Fetterman, immediately brought up the “elephant in the room” on Wednesday and acknowledged that he might mash words together and jumble some sentences.

“I just don’t understand how a doctor would want somebody that was sick to remain to be sick,” Fetterman said. However, Fetterman again balked at releasing additional medical information to assuage any concerns that voters might have about his health. The campaignfrom Fetterman’s doctor in Pittsburgh saying he would be fine to serve if he follows medical advice.

Oz opposes “any kind of commonsense gun reform,” said Fetterman, who reminded the board of his efforts to reduce gun violence in Braddock, where he was mayor for 14 years. When it comes to his support for letting out other convicted murderers, Fetterman said it was a “tiny percentage up for consideration” and most were elderly with clean records in prison.Asked about compromising in the Senate, Fetterman said he’s willing to negotiate on some issues, such as infrastructure investment, but there are others that he won’t budge on, such as abortion and union rights, and raising the minimum wage.
