Ferrari look to bounce back in the Bahrain Grand Prix today – Formula One’s first night race of the season

The second round of this year’s Formula One World Championship takes place in the deserts of Bahrain today.

That meant everything was in place for Mercedes to draw first blood, and Valtteri Bottas stormed to the most emphatic win of his career to date – blitzing his five-time world champion team-mate Lewis Hamilton by more than 20 seconds. Ferrari had to settle for fourth and fifth places. Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto said: “In Bahrain, we will have to ensure that we have understood and rectified the areas where we were weak in Australia. We expect to see the effect of the corrections we have made, though we are well aware that our competitors will be very strong.”Meanwhile, Red Bull are looking forward to repeating their podium success in Bahrain after their new power unit partnership with Honda began in Australia.

In addition to staging the grand prix, Bahrain will also play host to the first in-season test of the year. Two days of running at the start of next week will give teams the perfect chance to let their young drivers take the wheel.
