James Gilroy has been put behind bars for his spree which saw him don disguises and take crowbars to steal perfumes
A thief who terrorised shop workers with his "wanton, feral behaviour" during the course of a crime spree has finally been locked up.
"The next day he went to a Boots at Guiseley Retail Park where he opened a glass cabinet and stole 45 units of Dior perfume. He went equipped with a crow bar that he used to get into the cabinet." The court also heard that he fell to be sentenced for a shop theft in July this year when he stole £390 worth of alcohol and confectionary. Ms Parnham said "It was around 8am and he went in with a woman. As the two left the store they made no attempt to pay. An undercover security officer tried to detail him and he was aggressive and during the struggle the security staff's shirt was torn.
The car then drove through red lights, overtook cars at twice the speed limit and drove on a dual carriageway with no lights before coming to a stop after it tried to take a short-cut and was stopped by a parked car. Gilroy - who was driving without a licence and insurance at the time - was found in the driver's seat and arrested.
