Fender Audio’s Mix headphones have a modular design so you can customize colors, as well as an easily accessible rechargeable battery.
Fender Audio, the consumer electronics brand owned by the famous guitar maker, has announced its first pair of wireless headphones at CES 2026. What sets the Mix headphones apart from the competition are impressive battery life, a modular design that allows the ear cups and headband to be swapped to alternate colors, and a focus on longevity with a battery that’s easy to access and swap.
When they launch this year the Mix headphones will initially be available in olympic white and skyscraper black color options for $299.99. That’s considerably cheaper than Sony’s $450 flagship WH-1000XM6 headphones that debuted last May. We haven’t had a chance to test the Mix’s hybrid active noise cancellation to confirm if it’s comparable to Sony’s class-leading ANC in the WH-1000XM6, but Fender Audio bests Sony on battery life. While Sony’s ANC headphones max out at up to 30 hours of playback with ANC on and up to 40 hours with it off, the Mix headphones offer up to 52 hours with ANC and up to 100 hours without. Hidden beneath the Mix’s ear cup cushions are a pair of 40mm “hyper-efficient Graphene drivers” and a couple of other surprises. Removing the cushion on one side reveals a removable panel for swapping out the Mix’s battery, while the other side hides a storage spot for a USB-C wireless transmitter. The Mix headphones can connect to audio sources using a USB-C cable or wirelessly over Bluetooth 5.3 with support for the SBC and AAC codecs. Switching to the included transmitter enables lossless 96kHz/24bit LHDC streaming as well as low-latency LC3 and Auracast wireless modes. You can even fall back to using a 3.5mm audio cable when the Mix headphones’ battery is completely dead. But Fender Audio says a 15-minute quick charge will provide up to eight hours of playback, or nearly double that if you keep ANC turned off.
