FEMA has conceded to a judge’s ruling, ordering that the agency reinstate the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities Program.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has conceded to a judge’s ruling, ordering that the agency reinstate the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities program. That’s according to a release from North Carolina Attorney General Jeff Jackson, who says the agency conceded on Friday, March 20.

Previously, Jackson won the case around the program back in December, when a court ruled that FEMA broke the law by cancelling the program which had $200 million pending disaster prevention projects across North Carolina for Helene recovery. Jackson also reports that the cancellation of BRIC led to more than 60 infrastructure projects being halted. In its status report filed with the court, FEMA says it will now appropriate the remaining BRIC program dollars to states in the coming months. It will also begin taking funding applications, totaling up to $1 billion for the next year, starting on March 27.BE THE FIRST TO COMMENT July 2025: Attorney General Jackson sued FEMA over its decision to cancel the $200 million storm relief program.
