PETALING JAYA: The shortage of some fruits and vegetables along with rising food prices in the United Kingdom is putting pressure on Malaysians residing there.

Marcus Yap, 40, who has lived in Leeds for 20 years, said there was high demand for specific greens such as tomatoes and cucumber, which are salad ingredients.

“Eggs have been, and are still quite hard to get. My local supermarket limits the number of cartons people buy, and eggs still run out by noon,” she said. Another Malaysian, who has lived in London for 18 years, said that she could still buy vegetables in the last two weeks, but not in large amounts.
