Things feel quite a bit different in Jacksonville this year. The Jaguars were in a tailspin at this point in 2022, unable to close games and careening into a winless October. And now?

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence and Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson speak during an NFL football game between the Atlanta Falcons and the Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley stadium in London, Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023. The Jaguars were in a tailspin at this point in 2022, unable to close games and careening into a winless October. The Jaguars have won four straight since their low point, a 37-17 loss to the Texans in Week 3.

“Yeah, quite honestly. You expect to be in this situation. We can still play better; I think there’s a lot left out on the field each weekend that we can learn from and improve. Especially the back half of the season,” Pederson said. Jacksonville has won but it has dealt with uneven performances, especially on the offensive side of the ball. The offense has continued to be a weekly work in progress, dinged up by injuries, suspension and inconsistent play. Receiver Zay Jones has missed four games with a knee injury. Left tackle Cam Robinson was out the first four weeks due to a performance-enhancing drug suspension. His replacement, Walker Little, left 11 snaps into Week 5 with a knee injury.

“Today, you got to have a sense of urgency and you have to get back going, make sure that your mind is right and that you’re ready to go play a physical, four-quarter game on Sunday. That’s everything we expect and we’re going to get there by Sunday.”
