Ms Russell, an environmental field officer, launched the Facebook group Wild Women of Wollongong six months ago, and over that time it has grown to 5,000 members. "The group also provides a space for women to organise camping trips, snow trips and other types of group activities that aren't always based in the Illawarra."Bushwalking, ocean swims

"I joined because I love going out and adventuring in nature. I love bushwalking, swimming, camping, all sorts of outdoor activities and it seemed like that was all happening in this group," Ms Dawson says.Her first adventure took her bushwalking with 20 strangers, and she was hooked.Last Saturday Ms Dawson suggested an ocean swim and snorkelling at a shipwreck.
