A new report calls for institutional changes at HHS, including adopting a culture of 'transparency and accountability.'
WASHINGTON, DC - JUNE 03: Dr. Anthony Fauci, former Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, testifies before the House Oversight and Accountability Committee Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic at the Rayburn House Office Building on June 03, 2024 in Washington, DC.
Researchers behind the report sought to determine why the campaign preceded “a collapse of trust in public health messaging.” That campaign, which received $900 million in funding, was “deeply flawed,” a release on the report claims. The report accused HHS of claiming “without evidence” that COVID-19 vaccines were more effective against the disease than they actually are. It also slammed the agency for allegedly overstating the risks of COVID on children and the effectivity of masks against infection.
Lawmakers continue to scrutinize leading COVID officials as new information surfaces from the pandemic era. Former New York City Mayor’s Office Senior Advisor for Public Health Jay Varma last month admitted to hosting large nude gatherings during the pandemic while urging city residents to remain isolated, according to undercover video posted by podcaster Steven Crowder.
