Kenyetta Roberson was shot in the legs outside a liquor store on San Pablo Avenue, and allegedly referenced the incident when the ATF raided his home this month.

OAKLAND — A San Leandro man has been charged with being a felon in possession of guns allegedly found in a May 1 raid on his home by the ATF, court records show.

Prosecutors described the shooting in an unsuccessful motion to keep Roberson in custody while the case is pending, saying they believed he was possessing the three pistols to retaliate against the man who shot him in the legs. But they noted that during an interview with law enforcement, Roberson indicated he wanted them for self-defense and added, “I’m not trying to kill nobody.”
