FedEx Supply Chain will lay off employees at its facility in York, Pennsylvania, due to a customer not renewing its contract. The company said it is providing support to affected employees, including helping them find other jobs within FedEx. Operations will continue at the facility for other customers.
The company filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification informing the state it is laying off the employees at 2901 Black Ridge Road in Manchester Township.
The location is a multi-client facility for FedEx Supply Chain and one of the customers chose not to renew its contract, the company said in a WARN notice. FedEx Supply Chain didn’t identify the customer.“FedEx Supply Chain will no longer be providing service for a customer that occupied space at 2901 Black Bridge Road in York, Pa. While operations will remain at the Black Ridge facility for other customers, operations for this customer will cease in March.
The company said it is providing information to affected employees about other FedEx openings and actively working to place them at other nearby FedEx facilities FedEx Supply Chain will continue operations at the Black Ridge Road facility in support of its other customers and will employ 13 people. The WARN Act is federal legislation that offers protection to workers, their families, and communities by requiring employers to provide notice 60 days in advance of a covered-business closing and covered-business mass layoff.
