CLEVELAND, Ohio — A federal judge in Cleveland took senior status earlier this week, paving the way for President Joe Biden to make another judicial appointment in northern Ohio.

“I plan on reducing my cases somewhat, particularly now because I’m a member of a judicial conference committee that is time consuming,” Gaughan said, referring to the Judicial Conduct and Disability Committee. “I might reduce it slightly, but I’ll revisit it in the near future and maybe go back up to a full draw.”

Three other federal judges in Cleveland have taken senior status during Biden’s presidency — James Gwin, Dan Polster and Solomon Oliver. All three were replaced with Biden appointees, who were confirmed by the U.S. Senate. The appointees are Bridget Brennan, David Ruiz and Charles Fleming.
