After 43 days, the longest government shutdown in U.S. history is on the path to being over as a bipartisan funding bill was passed in the House Wednesday evening. Robert Echeverria, a union steward with the American Federation of Government Employees Local 1127, said he's received just one partial paycheck and two pay stubs showing "zero dollars" since the shutdown began.

Echeverria, who has worked through previous government shutdowns, said this one has been the hardest to endure. He said it has forced members of his union to rely on family, friends, and community resources to survive. The funding bill ensures that federal employees will receive back pay, but Echeverria says when and how much money they'll receive remains uncertain. "It felt like it was pretty quick when we actually got paid ," he said. "The amount of money we received, however, wasn't what we expected.""Until we actually see that paycheck in our bank account, we're not going to know how much we can spread everything around," Echeverria said. At Salt Lake City International Airport, spokesperson Nancy Volmer praised the resilience of federal employees, including TSA agents and air traffic controllers, who continued working without pay. “We’ve been very fortunate here in Salt Lake City because workers have been showing up, and they’ve been showing up with really good attitudes,” Volmer said. Still, Echeverria said some workers have already decided not to wait for the government to stabilize.Multiple people in critical condition after multi vehicle crash on I-15 in Bountiful A crash on Interstate 15 near the U.S.-89 overpass in Bountiful created massive traffic delays in both directions on Wednesday morning. The crash was first repoThe Northern Lights made a rare appearance over across Utah, filling the evening sky with brilliant shades of red, purple, and green. The lights, also known asPrivate investigator searches for missing 9-year-old last seen along Utah/Colorado border Highly experienced California private investigator Bill Garcia has joined the search for missing 9-year-old girl Melodee Buzzard.Garcia has solved hundreds of mThe 16-year-old boy who died after being electrocuted and falling from a power pole in Fruit Heights was a Layton High School student.Layton High Principal Broc
