Director Fede Álvarez discusses the possibility of potentially making a direct sequel to 2024's Alien: Romulus starring Cailee Spaeny.
Alien: Romulus opened in United States theaters this past weekend. Directed by Álvarez, the movie, which is set between the events of 1979’s Alien and 1986’s Aliens, stars Cailee Spaeny as Rain, David Jonsson as Andy, and more., Álvarez was asked if he has ideas to continue the story of Alien: Romulus and if he would be able to pitch a potential sequel tomorrow if he had to.“Yes, I definitely can,” Álvarez answered. “We tend to do that naturally, not even thinking about sequels.
“But we really try to think about it more in terms of story and if it needs another chapter and whether people want to know what happens next. So we’ll wait to see what people think and if people ask for it. My philosophy is that you should never make in two years. You’ve got to get away. You’ve got to get the audience to really want it. If you think about Alien and Aliens, there are seven years between them. But we definitely have ideas about where it should go.
