Just last month, grocery stores Aldi and Hy-Vee issued recalls for a variety of cream cheese spreads and cookies and cream mixes, respectively. The FDA defines Salmonella as 'a group of bacteria that can cause gastrointestinal illness and fever called salmonellosis' and can be spread when food handlers don't wash their hands, surfaces, and/or tools properly between food preparation steps, as well as when people consume raw or undercooked foods.
