Moderna announced today that its mRNA COVID-19 vaccine has received full FDA approval for adults 18 years and older.
The U.S. joins more than 70 other countries where regulators have approved the vaccine. A total of 807 million doses of Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine were shipped worldwide in 2021, the company reported.
“The full licensure of Spikevax in the U.S. now joins that in Canada, Japan, the European Union, the U.K., Israel, and other countries, where the adolescent indication is also approved," Stéphane Bancel, Moderna chief executive officer, said in the release.FDA: Coronavirus Update: FDA Takes Key Action by Approving Second COVID-19 Vaccine.”
