by Matthew Jacobson, KUTVThe FBI on Saturday arrested an 18-year-old in Idaho for reportedly attempting to provide material support and resources to the Islamic State group.
"The FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force conducted the investigation and thwarted Mercurio’s violent plot," according to the statement. "Mercurio is currently in custody awaiting his initial appearance which will be set by the Court." "Mercurio proceeded to express support for terrorist organizations, specifically ISIS, online and in-person," the agent's affidavit states.
Authorities stated in the complaint that the suspect had purchased items consistent with his attack plans, which he "transmitted" Saturday along with a declaration of his allegiance to ISIS and his intention to die on the group's behalf.
