The FBI has dubbed the suspect the “Subzero Suspect,” a nickname tied to the timing of the robbery, which occurred as Houston was dealing with the fallout of a historic winter storm that brought freezing temperatures to the region.The robbery happened around 9:05 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2026, at the Frost Bank located at 9990 Almeda-Genoa Road, according to a press release from the FBI’s Violent Crime Task Force. Investigators say the suspect entered the bank, displayed a black handgun and ordered employees to lie on the ground at gunpoint. Authorities said the suspect took cash before fleeing the bank on foot. No injuries were reported. The amount of money stolen has not been disclosed.The suspect is described as an adult male, about 5 feet 7 inches tall with a thin build. During the robbery, he was wearing a lime-green ski mask, a gray jacket, black pants, black shoes and white gloves.
