During Wray’s hearing, Rep. Harriet Hageman said “the American people fully understand” that Wray “personally worked to weaponize the FBI against conservatives.” Meanwhile, Rep. Jerry Nadler said the hearing was “little more than performance art” for Republicans seeking to defend Trump by discrediting those investigating him.
Wray, a Republican appointed by Trump, firmly rejected accusations that he was “protecting the Bidens,” saying, “The idea that I'm biased against conservatives seems somewhat insane to me, given my own personal background.” Wray also asked committee members to consider the breadth of the FBI’s work, not just “the one or two investigations that seem to capture all the headlines.
