The FBI has subpoenaed payroll information for Progreso, a Rio Grand Valley town whose ex-mayor is under federal indictment for alleged cocaine trafficking.

The FBI is demanding payroll records for the border city of Progreso , whose ex-mayor is under federal indictment on charges of trafficking cocaine. The bureau served the city with a subpoena for the records in January, apparently as part of a drug investigation that has led to charges against then-Mayor Gerardo 'Jerry' Alanis and his brother Frank , among others, reporter Dave Hendricks of ValleyCentral.com reported.

Mayor of Texas border town arrested on federal drug trafficking charges Jerry Alanis, 31, was arrested in March and resigned as mayor three weeks later. He was also fired from his job at the school district, where he worked in IT and was the boys' soccer coach. He allegedly stored cocaine at a Progreso middle school. Frank Alanis was arrested in October. At the time, he was board president of the Progreso Independent School District and an assistant Progreso city manager.
