Marbrey and Ewing Police Chief Al Rhodes said Davon Holloman, 35, of Trenton, New Jersey, was arrested on January 22 and charged with first-degree murder, third- and fourth-degree weapons offenses, and three counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child in connection to the case.
"While outside teaching his three sons how to ride their bikes, Jimmy was attacked and murdered in front of them by the boyfriend of their mother," "This senseless act has left our family devastated and his children without their loving father," according to the post. The prosecutor's office, along with police, said officers from the Ewing Police Department responded to a scene after they received a report about a man who was stabbed on January 8 shortly before 5:30 p.m.Officers found a man, later identified as Chase, with multiple stab wounds to the torso. He was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where he died the next morning. "The investigation revealed that Holloman was involved in a physical altercation with Chase, who is the father of Holloman’s girlfriend’s children," the prosecutor's office said. "Most of the altercation was captured on a cell phone video and his three small children can be seen trying to break up the fight." Chase's family described him as "a good man" who played "a major role" in their community, saying he was always there to lend a helping hand, and his kindness touched everyone he met. "His loss is felt deeply by all who knew him, and the pain of his absence is immeasurable," his sister said. "Jimmy’s greatest joy was being a father, and he worked hard to provide a safe and loving environment for his boys." The family said donations will be used to help cover funeral expenses, as well as go toward his sons. "Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference in their lives as they navigate this difficult time," according to the GoFundMe. "Thank you to everyone for supporting our family and for loving my brother. We are truly grateful for the outpouring of love and kindness."The prosecutor's office said an investigation is ongoing.
