ICYMI: According to family members, Walter Torres was a hardworking father of five.

Police responded to a call from an Uber driver around 5:23 a.m. about a man who was found at the Windfield II apartments, located at 10110 Forum W Dr. Officers said they initially thought the man died from natural causes.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the victim, who was identified as Walter Torres, with a lunch bag next to him. Further investigation revealed the man was shot in the back of the head, according to HPD. Police believe this may have been the result of a possible robbery. They don’t know what was stolen but said Torres’ pockets were sifted. The suspect was wearing dark-colored clothing, a hoodie, and a mask, detectives said.“He was a nice father. He was a nice human being. He was helping my mom every month. He would send money to my mom,” the victim’s brother, Jose Torres, said.Copyright 2023 by KPRC Click2Houston - All rights reserved.
