UPDATE: Police say that a man shot in Monte Rio has died as the search continues for an armed suspect, 32-year-old Francisco Gonzalez.
MONTE RIO, Calif. -- Police have issued a shelter-in-place in the Russian River town of Monte Rio Tuesday as they search for a suspect following a fatal shooting.
The shooting happened in the area of Alder Rd. and Willow Rd. The Sonoma County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday afternoon that the man who was shot has died. Authorities have identified the suspect as 32-year-old Francisco Gonzalez, who they say is armed and dangerous. Gonzalez is about 6-foot-1, 160 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a blanket over his arms and red tennis shoes.Police say the suspect is armed with a rifle.
