Colleen West, KIRO 7 NewsSEATTLE — The Interstate 5 express lanes are closed near Mercer Street in Seattle after a fatal crash.
At around 11:30 a.m. Friday, the Seattle Fire Department said a semi-truck had rolled over and the driver was trapped. Crews were working to free the victim. A short time later, Washington State Patrol Trooper Rick Johnson said the crash was fatal. The driver of the semi-truck was killed, according to the Seattle Fire Department.Johnson said an extended closure of the express lanes is expected while investigators determine what led up to the crash.
