Police said that several stores in West Philadelphia had been looted during the night.
The shooting, which sparked the protests, took place on Monday afternoon in the Cobbs Creek neighborhood after the police responded to a report of a person with a weapon. The victim, later identified as Walter Wallace, allegedly advanced towards police officers with a knife despite being ordered to drop the weapon, after which police shot him several times.A video of the fatal shooting recorded by a bystander was posted on social media on Monday.the Associated Press, the video shows officers pointing their guns at Wallace as he walks towards them. With their guns still aimed at Wallace, the officers yell at him to put his knife down.
