The person was initially pulled over because they were driving without a license plate, authorities said.
The person shot was taken to a hospital but officials did not have any information on their condition as of Wednesday evening. Phil Rodriguez, president of the Utah Chapter of the National Association of Letter Carriers, said the individual shot was not a postal service employee.
Five officers opened fire on the driver in the parking lot of the Farmington post office located at 145 E State St., Johnsen said. None were injured. It’s unclear if the person shot by police was armed. At the scene Wednesday evening, multiple bullet holes could be seen on the passenger side of the sedan as Johnsen spoke during the news conference.
