John M. O'Connor The Houston County Commission is honoring those who help keep the area’s agricultural production system moving.
During a regular meeting on Monday, county commissioners proclaimed the week of Nov. 17-23 as Farm-City Week in the county. According to the Alabama Farmers Federation, the goal of Farm-City Week is to deepen an understanding between farmers and urban families through education, outreach, and promotion. Since 1955, Farm-City programs have hosted educational events and invited city residents to tour local farms and see how their food is grown.
