French company Fareva, which makes various products for Boots, is set to close the factory for good this summer
A huge Nottinghamshire factory which makes Boots products is set to make around 120 staff redundant as soon as this week, trade union USDAW says. Fareva, which was owned by Boots and was sold in 2019 but still has headquarters in Beeston , first announced plans to close its factory in the Nottinghamshire town in June, last year.
But recently, Fareva itself has been quiet publicly with regards to proposals, meaning most information has come from the press office at USDAW - the Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers. Fareva did say that Beeston-based staff would be given first priority for one of 150 new roles created at the Fillcare factory in Wales, which will take on production duties.
There are around 800 staff employed at Fareva in Beeston, where manufacturing takes place at the huge D10 building on Thane Road. Approximately 120 of these are expected to lose their jobs by the end of May, before the rest are made redundant by the end of June. It means Boots products such as No7 and Soltan will no longer be made in the county for the first time ever. But while manufacturing will move, Nottinghamshire Live understands that research and development operations for those products will remain at the huge Beeston site.
