Marjorie Taylor Greene’s concern for the accused insurrectionists languishing in the D.C. Jail does not seem to extend to the rest of the 1,350 people held there — most of whom are awaiting trial or serving short sentences, and 90% of whom are Black.
, mostly white, defendants facing charges of violence on January 6, who are under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Marshals Service and housed without bail in the D.C. Jail’s so-called “Patriot Wing.” Greene has not responded to requests for comments on whether she supports legislation that would ease similar conditions for hundreds of thousands of people incarcerated within the federal justice system.
