While Marvel have so far avoided confirming any The Fantastic Four casting news, one huge franchise star offered a positive reaction to links.
With the MCU's Fantastic Four casting rumors hotting up, reported frontrunner Vanessa Kirby has offered her first public reaction to the possibility of her playing Sue Storm AKA The Invisible Woman. Previous chatter suggests that Barbie star Margot Robbie is up for the lead role, but Mission Impossible star Kirby has emerged as a strong contender. That's despite the conspicuous silence from within Marvel on official Fantastic Four casting news to date.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Vanessa Kirby was asked about playing Sue Storm in the MCU's The Fantastic Four reboot, and told Comicbook.com that she was aware of the rumors. While offering no concrete confirmation of being in talks with Marvel, Kirby said playing Sue Storm "would be an honor".
The question now is whether Kirby would be a strong option to play Sue Storm in the MCU, especially next to the contenders already linked to the role. Even with Mila Kunis seemingly out of the running, Kirby could see herself up against Margot Robbie off the back of Barbie's viral marketing success, long-term fan favorite Emily Blunt, and Jodie Comer, who is still looking for her big movie breakout after Killing Eve.
Kirby has franchise credentials already having joined Tom Cruise's Mission Impossible series and playing the third lead opposite Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Jason Statham in Fast & Furious spin-off Hobbs & Shaw. She also has considerable range, and the suggested dynamic of her playing opposite Adam Driver in The Fantastic Four would be a great one.
